Randall Christensen became involved in the dance
scene in 1976 while attending Brigham Young University.
Only 1 1/2 years later Randall was performing on one
of the university's formation dance teams. Soon after,
he returned home and began teaching competitive ballroom
dance at the local Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Columbia,
South Carolina
After a year of teaching in South Carolina Randall
transferred to Phoenix, Arizona where he taught and
competed in both Professional and Pro-Am divisions.
Working out of a spare bedroom he began learning the
art of design, cutting and constructing ball gowns
and latin dresses.
The demand for his designs was so great that he had
to become part of time dance instructor in order to
devote more time to his new vocation
During this time, his reputation as a costume designer
was becoming more widespread. But 1985 Randall knew
his future lay in costume design and manufacturing.
Going into partnership with Henry Vela, Together they
formed "Designs by Randall".
